The Systems Information group at Oracle India is looking to hire technical writers to join their BANGALORE team who can work on documentation sets for current and future releases of our software and hardware products. The audiences are administrators, system integrators, and developers for large commercial enterprises and research companies.
General summary
- Create, edit, and update user/administration/hardware installation manuals, online information, demos, man pages, etc. that are designed for system administrators, service personnel, system integrators, and developers
- Work independently with subject matter experts to gather scope requirements and and transform it into easy-to-understand information for a specific audience
- Use various authoring and desktop publishing software to produce documents that include printed or electronic publications and integrated online help systems
Duties and responsibilities
- Create or update software and hardware documentation by trying hands-on
- Improve the user experience of the product and documentation
- Use software tools appropriately with technical guidance and complete assigned tasks
- Develop work plans and schedules
- Demonstrate self-initiative and innovation
Desired skills
- Knowledge of UNIX/Linux/Solaris
- Working knowledge of authoring tools/technology (such as, FrameMaker, Arbortext Epic, oXygen, SGML/XML)
- Ability to be a strong team player and work effectively in a collaborative and distributed work environment
- Aptitude for learning and understanding new technologies and products
- Good communication skills
- Problem solving skills
- Exposure to scripting
Education & Experience
A degree in any of: Computer Science, Electronics, Information Science, Professional Communications
Candidates with 2-5 years of experience and who have a passion for systems technology and flair for technical communication are welcome!
